β€œTo regard beauty as a luxury adornment or a social signifier was to miss the true potential of the experience.”

This quote, although just a short sentence, contains great detail that will cause everyone to think about it differently. My interpretation of this comment is the following. I believe the author is trying to open the readers mind about the true meaning of something beautiful. Saying that you will not find the true beauty in a material item and that you’ll never be able to find it through that item.

I view beauty in many different ways through many different windows. My family is beautiful. The love and compassion i receive from my parents and sisters is beautiful. My sisters golden retriever is beautiful. Beautiful is past looks or just how something is perceived, but how good they make you feel on the inside. The beach and the ocean are true beauty. Anything that brings positive vibes with the people i’m surrounding by is true beauty.

I feel society views beauty through materialistic things. Instead of searching for internal happiness through the natural beauty around us, society seems to lean towards the material items. I feel our society today has been to caught up in social media and trying to do anything to live up to the hype they see through the most famous poeple in the world.

“When we find something beautiful, we are called towards a vision of harmonious perfection. This is not only a quality in the object, but a longing in ourselves.”
