Reading developing paragraphs in The Little Seagull has developed many eye opening strategies in the writing process. With tightening an unfocused paragraph, I learned the information should really be narrowed down and focus on one main idea. Although many details may be brought into the paragraph, the objective is to stay the course and rely the best possible information surrounding the main point. From page 19 in The Little Seagull the author can be quoted saying, “Whether or not you announce the main point in a topic sentence, be sure that every sentence in a paragraph relates to the point.”

This point stood out to me as i trace back and make sure every paragraph flows right. To make sure every sentence is hitting the main point on the head. The last thing i would want to do is confuse the reader with my own details. I want the reader to fully understand the topic at hand and enjoy reading it without any hesitation.

With the direction of revising and editing two paragraphs from the information we retrieved from The Little Seagull, my essay was affected by the following. Instead of completely re-writing two paragraphs i found the textbook most useful in editing my essay entirely. Instead of focusing on just two paragraphs, i took the assortment of information and applied it to the parts of my essay i deemed necessary. I added sentences with great detail to help support my claim and advance the theory of my main point. I removed or edited many sentences that did not seem to fit in that particular place. Whether i completely removed the sentence as a whole from the essay or discovered a place in the text where it fit in much more efficiently.

I believe these changes have done nothing but improve this essay. I feel more confident about approaching the final draft.
